FAMILIES CAN MAKE LENTEN MEMORIES

Lent offers opportunities to pass on your faith to children. Here are some ideas for making Lenten memories:

Pray together. Even if it’s just an Our Father or Hail Mary, it unites the family. Let each family member mention one person or problem that they would like to pray for in a special way at dinnertime. Take the kids grocery shopping for the poor. Let them help you bring the food to your parish pantry or the local food bank. Let children light a candle at church for people throughout the world who are sick or hungry. Sample Lenten food favorites, such as hot cross buns or pretzels. Check the Internet for recipes and make your own! Attend the Stations of the Cross as family.

OUTDOOR STATIONS OF THE CROSS

You may have noticed the exquisite Stations of the Cross newly located in our Grotto. Designed and constructed in Italy for outdoor use, they will serve our faithful as a vehicle to follow in the steps of Our Lord’s Passion and Death. Although we are encouraged to pray the Stations during the season of Lent, this is a great occasion to contemplate the mysteries of our salvation during any time of the year. We are very grateful to Margaret Pascale, who donated the Stations in memory of her husband, Dominick.  We also want to thank Jim Hook for preparing the background color and finish that reveals the details, depth and beauty of each station. We also thank Mickey & Robin for their labor of installing each station. Enjoy this new addition to our Grotto.

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS

Dear Lord,

We pray that the Blessed Mother

wraps her mantle around your priests

and through her intercession

strengthens them for their ministry.

We pray that Mary will guide your priests

to follow her own words,

“Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5)

May your priests have the heart of St. Joseph,

Mary’s most chaste spouse.

May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart

inspire them to embrace

all who suffer at the foot of the cross.

May your priests be holy,

filled with the fire of your love

seeking nothing but your greater glory

and the salvation of souls.

Amen.

St. John Vianney, pray for us.
