Dear Parents and Students,
We welcome you to a new year of continued faith-building in our Religious Education program. We hope you had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to an equally wonderful year of learning and growing in our faith and love of God.
Catechetical Sunday and the commissioning of our catechists for the morning
program will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the 9:00 AM Mass and
for the evening programs at the 5:00 PM Mass.
Registration for all Religious Education classes will take place after
the 9:00 and 10:45 AM Masses on Sunday, September 20, 2009.
You may prefer to register prior to that date by filling out the forms
(click below to print out forms) and sending them, with your check, to the
Parish office. Our first morning
class will be Sunday, September 27th. Please meet in the
auditorium with your child for introductions and information about the program.
The students will then be dismissed with their teacher to their
classrooms. Sunday, October 4th
will be our first evening class; we will meet in the Parish Hall after the 5 PM
Mass at 6:15 PM.
We will offer a 4 year old Pre-K class that is scheduled to take place from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Sunday mornings. Our Kindergarten class through the seventh grade, including our sacramental prep class, will meet from 10:15 AM-11:45 AM, also Sunday mornings. We encourage families to attend the 9:00 Mass, which includes a Children’s Liturgy of the Word, before class. We will again offer the middle school program for 6th and 7th grade students combined, which will take place on Sunday evenings. This program will start at 6:15 PM and end at 7:45 PM. We encourage students who participate in this program to attend the 5 PM Mass just prior to class. For more information about any classes, please call the office.
Attendance is very important to our program; for that reason if your child
cannot attend, please let us know either by email
joannereled@bellsouth.net
or by calling the parish office (626-1873).
To encourage attendance, we will offer completion certificates for those
students that attend at least 80% of the classes and a perfect attendance award
for those that attend all classes.
We continue to ask that you escort your youngest children to their classrooms
and that all students are picked up
promptly, by a parent, from their classrooms after class.
At this time, we would also like to bring to your attention St. Paul of the Cross Family Bible Night that will be held once a month, on the first Wednesday, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. We begin with a potluck dinner followed by a program to include time for both large group and breakout groups by ages. We pray you will take this opportunity to gather with others from our Parish in this special setting, as we meet and share our faith and our families.
We are grateful for the opportunity to be your partner in your effort to
bring the best program of faith to your children.
Together we will continue to learn and grow.
