St. Vincent de Paul Society

The St. Vincent de Paul Society is very active here at St. Paul of the Cross. The members, who prefer to remain anonymous, work tirelessly to provide aid to those in need, and to help individuals reduce and possibly eliminate the causes of their suffering.

The St. Paul of the Cross Chapter of the Society carries out its mission through the following:

1. Pick up baked goods from Publix three times weekly and deliver to homeless and needy families.

2. Assist 20-25 clients with bags of food who walk in to the parish office each week.

3. The Dented Can Crew, consisting of approximately 15 men and women who volunteer to pack about 530 family packages of food weekly.

4. Assist other agencies in our area including St. Patrick's, St. Peter's, St. Ann's Place, St. Ann's Church, St. George's Soup Kitchen, plus the St. Vincent de Paul Store.

5. Deliver bakery goods weekly to Senior Citizens Center and prepare 75 to 100 snack bags for seniors.

6. Prepare 20-25 bags of food for pick up each week for the Haitian Community in Lake Worth.

7. Help people of our parish in need of financial assistance and lodging. We do everything we can to help those in need.

8. Assist those involved in our Parish Ministries, from children to seniors, wherever and whenever needed.

9. When the Lord calls, we just say "Yes."

10. During the year 2007, we gave away in-kind services (donated items) of $323,895. We also spent $38,570 in direct financial assistance.

11. We have developed a computer repair ministry, headed by Jim Clark. We have distributed 530 computers to agencies and families in need since we started in 2005.
