The Christ Child Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) association of lay volunteers, embracing members of all denominations, who express their love of Christ by personal service to needy children regardless of race, creed, or national origin.
History
The Christ Child Society was founded in 1887 by Mary Virginia Merrick to give assistance to poor infants and children in the Washington, DC area. The Palm Beach chapter was founded in 1983 and members work together to respond to the needs in our community.
How We Serve
Newborn babies receive a selection of basic necessities in the form of "layettes" which are put together in St. Paul's St. Gabriel Building and then distributed to Lifeline, Hope Rural School in Indiantown, the Palm Beach County Health Department, as well as new Moms who are in need.
Source of Funding
The Christ Child Society raises its own funds and has no administrative staff.
Fund-raising programs include membership dues, Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show, Roe vs. Wade Layette Drive, Bakeless cake sale, community donations, memorials and bequests.
Supporters include the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, St. Paul of the Cross Parish, Hope Rural School and Campership Program.
