For those sins committed after Baptism, Christ instituted the Sacrament of Reconciliation or Penance, through which one is reconciled with God and with the Church. One experiences Christ's mercy, on-going conversion, and his gift of peace. Christ commissioned the Church,
"Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven"
(John 20:22)
The priest is available to help you through this process on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel.
There is a community penitential celebration of this sacrament during Lent.
One may make an appointment with a priest for any other occasion that is needed.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is received for the first time after a two year Religious Education program,
usually during the second grade year. This Sacrament must be received prior to First Holy Communion.
There is also a program for older children and Confirmation students, (Kate Devine) and adults, (OCIA), who would like to receive Reconciliation for the first time.
